Hire a Dawson Box for the cost of 175 Food Miles!
With both traffic congestion and fuel costs’ increasing is there a better option to multiple deliveries?
Based on the current Cost per Mile from the Freight Transport
Association for a 4 x 2 Artic plus reefer trailer, the costs of running 175 miles equates to the rental charge and running costs of a 31 pallet Dawson Box, capable of either chill or freeze application, for a week.
So instead of having multiple deliveries why not have less but larger deliveries, and use the costs saved to hire a Dawson Box?
If you buy chilled or frozen product;
1. How much delivery cost could you eliminate with fewer deliveries?
2. Could buying in larger quantities achieve you a lower net unit cost?
3. Is product price sensitive due to climate, or seasons etc; and are you currently missing opportunities to buy at the right time?
4. What is cost to the business of being out-of-stock?
